碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 書畫藝術學系 === 100 === Abstract The calligraphy of Qi Bai-shi expresses a personal style that has had a far-reaching impact on later generations practicing Chinese calligraphy. Within his works, Qi incorporated the concept of "calligraphy and painting originate from the same source.” With a down-to-earth personality stemming from his farming roots, Qi held a unique approach to life that is reflected in his works. By analyzing Qi's life to form a comprehensive understanding of the evolution of his artistic style, this paper outlines the major influences that affected his works. It will mainly focus on Qi's calligraphic works and discuss the evolution of his style. This paper is divided into five in-depth methods of analysis: 1.Introduce the motives and objectives for the thesis, and provide the content and scope for this study 2.Gain an understanding of Qi's life through reviews of relevant literature, and point out a few factors that influenced Qi's artworks 3.With a focus on calligraphic art, explain certain events that influenced the style of Qi's calligraphy 4.Highlight the evolution of calligraphy 5.Conclusion.
