Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 自動化及控制研究所 === 100 === The stage of development feasibility evaluation is one of key processes to evaluate ahead from the beginning whether a project could most likely turn to a successful product or not. It is to evaluate the possibility of success in market, the possibility of product development as planned after further research for design, implementation, and well-prepared planning.
From the viewpoint of systems thinking it has breaking through not able to see the forest for the trees which allows to see through clearly inside out of Set Top Box (STB) project development feasibility evaluation process and to look inside out all aspect key elements, the cause and effect, and dependencies among others. Then, grounded theory applies with qualitative analysis study software (NVivo 9) to make coding to identify preliminary factors of the feasibility evaluation. The preliminary factors are simplified to form 5x2 model by applying Yi-Yang five element model which is introduced to simply five category with two components. Based on this model, a tagged scale rating system is developed to establish Chernoff faces qualitative and quantitative model.
This study uses a STB Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) developing projects in 2011 as example. Applying systems thinking theory, feasibility evaluation related events are treated as whole and systemic way. By using grounded theory of qualitative study, find out central categories and apply Yi-Yang 5 element theory to simplify as 5x2 model. Tagged scale rating then is introduced to collect data, therefore, Chernoff faces qualitative and quantitative mode is data-driven and shaped. Their relation among the central categories displayed with face features. As a result, at the stage of development feasibility evaluation, it is taken into account as whole and reviewed as systemic way with face features in which qualitative and quantitative are represented. The visual comparison of face features among the new and the products has built up, becomes a clue to identify the unbalanced categories and to suggest the way for their improvements.
