Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 電子工程系 === 100 === This research studied the effect of back lighting compensation system on the reduction of visual fatigue when viewing images displayed on the monitors. The visual fatigue can be reduced by this system, which projects white light on to the background wall behind a display device, to form the appropriate contrast ratio between the displayed image on monitor screen and the background wall. There are two experiments performed in the study. In the first experiment, we investigated the comfortable luminance range to compensate in viewing test images under conditions of varied color channels. All test images with varied color channels include L*a*b* full-color channel, a*L* channel, b*L* channel and L* black-and-white channel. In the second experiment, after obtaining the comfortable luminance range, we then verified the effect of this comfortable luminance range on releasing the degrees of visual fatigue by measuring CFF (critical flicker fusion) variation of the subjects. We found that the visual fatigue, which is caused by viewing displayed images in a darkroom or a dim room, can be effectively reduced using the proposed TV-attached lighting compensation system. However, there is not significantly influence on the reduction of fatigue in an average room. The study shows that the visual fatigue caused by viewing monitors is mainly generated from the brightness component of a displayed color image.
