Because of the vastly different nature of wool and polyester, two classes of dyes are employed in a two-bath process or together in single bath containing some auxiliary. Considerable time, money and energy could be saved; by changing the conventional two-bath dyeing method used for these blends to a one-bath dyeing process is more useful method to solve this problem. When dyeing with disperse dyes, the staining of wool and dyeing of polyester take place simultaneously during one-bath dyeing of polyester and wool blend fabrics. Therefore one way to eliminate the above staining on wool in the blends is to develop a single dye, which shows equal affinity for (and high fastness properties on) both fibers of the blends. The present work aims to investigate and develop a series of carboxylic-azo dyes for the wool, nylon and polyester fabrics. These dyes were obtained by the coupling of diazotised 3-aminobenzoic acid and 4-aminobenzoic acid with 3-(N,N-diacetoxyethyl)aminoacetanilide, 3-(N,N-diacetoxyethyl)-amino-4-methoxyacetanlide, 3-(N,N-diethyl)amino- propionanilide, 3-(N,N-diethyl)aminoacetanilide and 3-amino-4-methoxy- acetanilide. The resulting carboxylic-azo dyes were subjected to Mass, 1H-NMR, and Element Analysis investigation. All of carboxylic-azo dyes were dyed on wool, nylon, polyester fabrics and their dyeing and fastness properties evaluated. The fastness properties of all the dyed samples were in accord with commercial requirements. Introduction of a carboxy group to the azo dye skeleton enhances the solubility of dyes, giving the dyeability of wool increase. Lin,Shang Ming 林尚明 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 122 zh-TW
