Recovery process, offspring’s attitudes toward parents, hindering factors in the process of recovery and protective factors were explored through interviewees’ life stories. A qualitative research method with purposive sampling and semi-structured in-depth interviews was used. The method of entirety-content/category-content analysis system was utilized to analyze the verbatim transcription of the interviews. Study results show: A. The causes of the interviewees’ parents’ marital violence are related to six parts: poor communication, power struggle and personality differences, alcohol abuse, financial issues, gambling, and learned behavior. B. The feelings and attitudes toward their parents include eight parts: fears, malice, blame, sympathy, avoidance, being not afraid of their father, helplessness, and forgiveness. C. Hindering factors in the process of recovery consist of intrinsic difficulties (including behavioral reactions, cognitive errors, interpersonal relationships and lack of confidence), and extrinsic distance between parents and children, being parents’ cash cow, brothers’ and sisters’ leaving home, environmental influences, and worry about marriage. D. Protective factors in the process of recovery are intrinsic protective factors (individual traits, sense of worth, cognition, and life attitude) and extrinsic protective factors (microscopic system, neutral position system, extrinsic system, and macroscopic system).
