The phenomenon also appears in Taiwan in recent years. More and more Taiwanese males get married with foreign spouses. According to the statistics from the Ministry of Interior from January to June in2010, out of six couples in Taiwan is cross national marriage. However, there are one thousand three hundred and eighteen Vietnamese women get married with Taiwanese males in this statistics. The amount of Vietnamese foreign spouses is more than other Southeast Asian foreign spouses. Most foreign spouses have the pressure to have a son to carry on the family name so they usually have children in one or two years after they are married. Generally speaking, the males who marry with Southeast Asian women have to support the whole families. However, the income in most foreign spouses’ families is lower than non foreign spouse’s families. Because they cannot support their children to go to the cram schools, foreign spouses have the responsibility to teach their children homework. English is an international language. The government pays attention to English education recently, for example, English activation curriculum is carried out in New Taipei City and there are more and more English villages in Taiwan. The study is to research the development of phonological awareness in English in the second grade and the third grade in San-Tain Elementary School in Taichung. The study is to evaluate the different performance on English phonological awareness between local native children and Vietnamese foreign spouses’ children. The performance of local native children is better than Vietnamese foreign spouses’ children in phonological awareness. Mattausch, Jason 馬傑生 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 88 en_US
