| Summary: | 碩士 === 世新大學 === 廣播電視電影學研究所(含碩專班) === 100 === "Deer, the dear ones." is a love story of the pursuit for "home" that happens in the background of multi-gender and multi-family that takes three decades. The story begins from the childhood of the leading role, Yi, in the veterinary hospital and the dream of having a spotted deer farm that Yi and her parents once had. From the broken family that led by the cheating of Yi’s father, Yi looks out for self-identity and the faith and quest for love after she grown up. During her experience in traveling and film making, Yi reviews her life and the joys and sorrows of it. Finally, by the retune for love and the realization of family attribution, the wound in Yi’s childhood is healed, and the new meaning of "home" is found.
The Formosan sika deer is a symbol of love in this story. In addition to the spotted deer farm that Yi’s parents was planning to build up together. Yi’s searching for spotted deer in Daegu Island is the attachment and imagination of her unfinished love and the longing for "getting married" deep inside her heart. As for the character, Xiao Lu, who was beloved by Yi, not only has a homonymic name as a "deer", and a pair of clear eye and is clever and agile just like a deer. The name of this story is "Deer, the dear ones." "deer" is not only refer to love but also the affection that Yi’s hold to her original family and her other "family/ hometown" in Matsu island.
In the choice of the background, besides the workplace of particular occupations such as veterinary or filmmakers, bustling Taipei city, New Taipei City area and the Beigan island in Mastu (Lianjiang County) are selected as the geographical background that the story takes place. By the massive contrast of landscape and life style between the modern, fast-changing urban city and the simple, slow-paced life in country side, reflects the psychological state of Yi. Also the island image of Matsu has the metaphor of the process of self-exploration
"Deer, the dear ones." is told by a female/lesbian aspect and a existentialism platform, the story teller is trying to voice out for the bisexual group, who are in the situation of " double closet" , by the bisexual identity of Yi and Xiao Lu. This story also stands out from the existing homosexual related film and television work by revealing diversity, nun-stereo type of homosexual lifestyle and is made to ease the public misunderstanding and stigma towards bisexual populations.
