As a result, some internet- and interpersonal-related problems rise. In recent years, although there are many studies focusing on exploring the relationlships between online usage behaviors and interpersonal relationships, results are still inconclusive (Gong, 2010; Lin, 2008; Yang, 2005; Huang, 2003; Shi, 2001; Huang, 1999). The main purpose of this study is to understand the relationlship between high school students’ internet usage behaviors and their real/virtual interpersonal relationships. Quantitative research method, specifically questionnaire survey, was conducted. Through convenient sampling, 450 questionnaires were distributed to senior high school/vocational high school students in New Taipei City area. A total of 390 questionnaires were collected (response rate of 86.7%), of which 346 valid questionnaires were analyzed (effective response rate of 76.89%). SPSS statistical software was employed for questionnaire data analyses and the following statistical analysis methods were conducted: independent T-test, one-way ANOVA, linear regression, and Pearson correlation. The following results were found: senior high school students’ age, monthly disposable amount, and average daily use of the Internet time were significantly associated with their on-line transactions amount; senior high school students’ age, type of school, school groups, as well as the average monthly disposable amounts were significantly associated with their real interpersonal-relationships; senior high school students’ age, school type, school groups as well as average monthly disposable amount were significantly related to their Internet interpersonal-relationships; senior high school students’ monthly on-line spending amount was significantly correlated with their real interpersonal-relationships; senior high school students’ average monthly on-line spending amount was significantly correlated with their daily average internet usage and interpersonal-relationships; and finally, senior high school students’ real interpersonal-relationships were significantly related to their virtual interpersonal-relationships.
