Description
Summary:碩士 === 慈濟大學 === 宗教與人文研究所 === 100 === On bodily touching for suffering people:A self—reflective understanding Abstract This thesis mainly explores the process of how to comfort and company people by touching their body on the basis of inquiring the question “if touching can make company be possible”. I take Reiki’s healing technique which come from Japan’s folk’s healing and introduced into Taiwan recently. The Reiki healing believes people can be released from sufferings through universal energy injection, therefore not only it can be a self-care technique, but also used in sick people. However, when I practiced Reiki’s healing technique(thus called Bu-Bu-Hand in the paper) on the sick people and always expected they can gain relief, somehow the thing did not go that way. I started to review my pre-asumption of the Reiki which I was taught. I found that viewed the Reiki technique as a cure therapy was totally mis-cognition. As I confessed the Reiki technique can’t be used to solve the sick people’s body problems, it became clearer to see what the Bu-Bu-Hand is and my study also turned to discuss comforting and companying people by touching body. Generally thinking we can help other people by many ways and company is one of them. However, this kind of “helping consciousness” cannot really help people. On the contrary, it brings difficulties to contact and company them. That means helper needs to transform the giver role to the receiver one. In other words, when the helper becomes the receiver and realizes they also gains something from the sick people, the true meaning of company with each other happens. In the process of company, I inquired myself into “what’s matter with me” again and again. In the long run, I found every time when I touched the sick people body, my mind was touched and I also met inner self at the same time. Through this process, I finally saw the position of company and realized touching company was not about others but me.
