Summary:碩士 === 慈濟大學 === 社會工作學系碩士班 === 100 === The purpose of this research was to investigate the relationships between Meals-on-Wheels Service and the elder’s physical-mental health. To be more specific, this study examined the relationships from the aspects of depression tendency, live satisfaction and nutritional status. The subjects of this research were the elders who received Meals-on-Wheels Service, including (number of the elders). In addition, a researcher-made questionnaire was used, which contained Depression scales, Live satisfaction scales, Mini-Nutritional status scale. Several methods were used to survey the changes of services received after 3 and 6 months , including Independent T Test and Wilcoxon Sign Ranked Test .Besides, the researcher proceed an in-depth interview among Meals-on-Wheels Service use change as an added explanation. The findings as followings: a. There were significant differences between the Depression tendency, Live satisfaction, and Nutritional status. the elder’s demographic data, health status ways of preparing meals and physical-mental health. The elders without disabilities or who were in fine health status had higher depression tendency. Different demographic straits of the subjects had no significant difference on satisfaction before taking Meals-on-Wheels Service. The subjects who had better health status had better nutritional status than the opposite. There was a mild correlation between the depression tendency, disability and health status. However, nutritional status correlated to health status while life satisfaction had no correlation to subject’s demographic straits. b. After 6 month Meals-on-Wheels Service, the elder’s depression score decreased, on the opposite, the nutrition score had dramatically increased, however, life satisfaction had no change. These results indicated that Meals-on-Wheels Service had positive functions to the elder’s physical-mental health. Based on the findings, several suggestions were made to future Meals-on-Wheels Service.
