Under Taiwan's NHI system, most of hospitals have to participate in the accreditationprocess of the Taiwan Joint Commission. However, despite Taiwan’s stringent, there are some hospitals apply for JCI to bring into line with globalization. The purpose of this study is to explore how different types of hospitals manage human resources under JCI standards. Interviews with human resource management experts were conducted and results were analyzed and summarized into questionnaires which were randomly distributed to different types of hospitals to investigate whether there exists a statistically significant difference. The result shows that management structure, physician authorization manual, physician authorization update frequency, and physicians authorization developing unit are statistically significant. The result of the expert interviews and statistical analysis of the questionnaire leads to that hospitals which are applying for JCI should put some effort into the following items (1)establish information systems management framework;(2)specify the responsibilities of each physician, according to their ability and qualifications;(3)manpower of each department should be evaluated by specific staffs;(4)job description is developed and executed accordingly; (5)establish procedure to verify new employee credentials prior to start date; 6)evaluate employee’s abilitiesperiodically to ensure work quality and to create a reward system;(7)develop policies to ensure employee’s health and safety;(8)value and strengthen employees' on job training and education.
