Through personal experiences and practices, it aims to find the way for making a breakthrough, and have new understanding of oriental art, western art, and aesthetics. The first chapter of this paper, therefore, states the creating motivations, purposes, and methods. Meanwhile it emphasizes the relation between time and space as explaining ‘the empty boat.’ In the chapter two, The Pursuit of Art Form for Representing ‘The Empty Boat’, based on Confucianism, Taoism, and meditation, it re-examines the origin and course of western art. Connected to the sur-mundane idea of ‘the empty boat’, this extended research above is exploring ideal art form, aesthetic conception, emotion, and history. Also inspired by literature and music, the personal consciousness of being ready to move on is shown. Continuing to chapter three, ‘Creating Thoughts’, by discussing ‘existential solitary’ and ‘social solitary’ which complement each other, it explores the beauty of isolation of ‘the empty boat’ and also creates its artistic conception. Since Asian Gouache is a technique with much oriental beauty, the process of creating would benefit greatly by knowing more about Japanese consciousness of empty and quiet besides oriental and western aesthetics. Therefore based on the way to appreciate ‘the empty boat’, bringing the boat image, creating idea and method together could make an artistic atmosphere to present personal emotion. It finally purposes to express the creativity and originality. Chapter four, ‘Works Interpretation’, reviews and analyses the author’s works created during the study of Master degree. A series of works relating to ‘the empty boat’ present the illustration of a retired person who is still eager to make progress, advancing bravely, reflecting on history, being free, and realizing the dream. Among above, realizing the dream is the supreme state. In conclusion, it is the aim of this research to keep the author possessing the literary talent and goodness; furthermore reach an advanced level.
