And the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) was then applied to determine the relative importance of each indicator. The results showed that five most important indicators are “Never disclose customer information” (0.115), “Safe Shopping Place” (0.110), “Operation Performance” (0.099), “Financial Risk Management” (0.067) and “Code of Conduct for Suppliers” (0.065). These five indicators are all under economical dimension which indicating customer relationship and makes benefits are important to the general retailers. Finally, the developed assessment framework was tested against one retailer and one convenient chain store for the suitability. The results indicated that this framework is suitable for assessing the sustainability of retailers in Taiwan. Furthermore, in order to have this assessment framewok also can evaluate he sustainability of hypermrts and stores, a new framework which includes 3dimensions, 7 categories and 18 indicators was developed by deleting indicators irrelevant to the hypermrts and stores.
