碩士 === 臺北市立教育大學 === 音樂學系碩士班 === 100 === Abstract César Franck(1822-1890) was an organist, composer and music educator of the nineteenth century. He devoted his lifetime to seek the German and Austrian classical tradition, put the French romantic emotions into his works, and created his special own characters. To glorify his musical contribution, Franck not only led the development of whole French music, but taught lots of followers, such as V. D’Indy(1851-1931), E. Chausson(1855-1899)...etc., even C. Debussy(1862-1918), the initiator of Impressionism, was also influenced by him. The factors above all show the importance if Franck in music history. This thesis is focused on the historical and musical analysis of Sonata in A Major. It will be divided into six sections: (1) Introduction of research motivations, purposes, and methods; (2) César Franck’s bibliography and compositional style; (3) The background and analysis of Sonata in A Major; (4) The interpretation of the sonata; (5) Different versions comparison of this sonata and introducing the related concerts; (6) The conclusion.
