The research involved a survey, comprised of questionnaires and interviewing. 11 of the recruited participants were male and 89 were female and they all came from some townships in Chiayi. Results of this research showed as follows: (1) The more realization of perceived benefits on health beliefs, the more achievements of diet.(2) The perceived barriers on health beliefs are correlated significantly negatively with the effects of weight reduction.(3) More physical activities and diet will promote the effects of weight reduction.(4) The ratio of perceived susceptibility and barriers of males is higher than females. The ratio of perceived benefits of single is higher than the married.(5) Weight controlling effects were not significantly associated with age, marital status, occupation and education.(6) It is necessary to keep strong perseverance when losing weight. And self- monitoring, self- diet recording, friends’ and families’ support will ensure the success of weight reduction. The findings in this research suggest the modification of attitude and behavior needs to be highlighted when executing weight reducing program. Furthermore, we can teach clients to cook low- calorie and satiating food, to record diet history, to seek for families’ and friends’ support while taking physical activities and dieting so as to eliminate barriers and enhance personal motivation.
