According to 2010 Publishing Annual of Taiwan, female fashion and leisure publications are very popular especially by the edit style of Japan. Therefore, the study tried to understand the preferences to layout design of Japanese female fashion magazine from consumers in Taiwan via sample analysis, Evaluation Grid Method and Questionary. The purposes of the study included: 1. To understand cultural differences by comparing the top-rated Japanese female fashion magazines in Taiwan and Japan. 2. Analyzing the common design factors of popular Japanese female magazines and preferences of Taiwanese readers by using layout design theories. 3. Understanding the attractiveness factors of Japanese female fashion magazines by integrating the design elements of the magazines and consumption behaviors of consumers. According to study results, there are some suggestions individually from layout structure, font, image and color of Japanese female fashion magazines as follow: 1.Layout structure: double pages and vertical symmetry structure may bring out the visual tracks with clear category and comfortable order which could made information become more methodically, as well as to point out the focal merchandises comparatively. In the other hand, the structure type of model in line is preferred by consumers. As a result, if the layout had many elements and characters, unified them could prevent chaos and become neat with systematic. 2.Font: Adding script font or drawing words properly can create variation feeling which include lovely, living and friendly features that are fond by female. 3.Image: Increasing emotion and spry performance of model, as well as the frame and story of shooting environment can be helpful to the present of images. Paying attention on the variation and unity of images are important as well. Moreover, drawing or painting and illustration have the essential role to bring out spry for layout design. 4.Color: According to the study result, consumers preferred vivid, brightly, seasonal and soft resembling color; they also like clean color as background which can prevent with interfere the present of words and images.
