Description
Summary:碩士 === 長庚大學 === 機械工程學系 === 101 === The purpose of this study is to design and fabricate a small H-type vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) whose mechanism automatically adjust the blade-pitch in such a way that the rotor has a lower start-up wind speed and a higher power coefficient than that of a normal H-type VAWT with fixed blade-pitch. The study is conducted in the following three steps. First, survey the literature for the best strategy of blade-pitch control in order to improve performance. Secondly, in accordance with the best control strategy, design and fabricate a blade-pitch adjusting mechanism. Finally, mount the wind turbine on a vehicle-mounted test bench to test its performance. Experimental results show that the wind turbine has a lower start-up wind speed and a higher efficiency at normal operational condition than that of VAWT without blade-pitch adjustment mechanism and that the strategy works as predicted in the literature. In conclusion, the blade-pitch adjustment mechanism designed in this study can be commercialized directly from the prototype.
