It is a trend to control and observe personal health condition by medical device. There is not a unified data format and communications protocol in commercial personal medical devices. It’s hard to exchange medical information and do system integration for current medical devices, and the user need to spend more time for learning the operation of different interfaces. Therefore, this research combines ISO/IEEE 11073 Personal Health Device Communication Standards combination with traditional medical device, and the transmission of X73 medical information is through ZigBee. This research successfully combines three kinds of traditional medical devices with ISO/IEEE 11073 Personal Health Device Communication Standard of Blood pressure monitor, Glucose meter and Pulse Oximeter. At the Agent side, X73 Adapter converted the measurement information in the traditional medical devices to standard format, and transport to the Manager system via the X73 Gateway with ZigBee wireless transmission technology. The medical information with X73 format will be stored in the database. In order to facilitate user interpreting data subsequently and X73 information can be converted into other data format in the future applications. After verification and validation, the data format and protocol are exactly followed the request of ISO/IEEE 11073.
