By cooperating with its suppliers, T Company is able to produce and deliver indus-trial conveyor chains in stable quality. However, in such a rapidly varying envi-ronment, the long-term partnership between T Company and its suppliers is fac-ing a challenge. For standardized materials, there is more requests for supplier’s resources searching, services and costs. For module materials, the requests of lead-time, cost and quality are also increasing. In customized materials, suppliers are ex-pected to cooperate into JIT, TQM in T Company’s production line so as to reach cost down and increase production efficiency. This study focuses on the capability and relationship level between T Com-pany and its suppliers. The capability of suppliers includes cost, lead-time, qual-ity and services. As for suppliers’ relationships, it could be functional, sociality and structural relationships. As an example of T Company, this study arranges to conduct a research on the effect of suppliers on production management and proposes the research results as follows. 1.Material characteristics vs. suppliers’ capabilities selection and relation-ship development in purchasing management: (1)The supplier selection for customized materials focuses on the sup-plier capabilities of quality, lead-time and customized services. Because it is key to integrate technical development, application skills and material usage rate, therefore there exists a closer struc-ture relationship between T Company and its suppliers. (2)The supplier selection for module materials focuses on the supplier capability of cost, lead-time and quality. Since the trade informa-tion and the integration of material application are important, so a proper social relationship may be appropriate. (3)The supplier selection for standardized materials focuses on the supplier capability of lead-time, quality and service. As both parties emphasize on the trade information, therefore their relationship is functional. 2.The affection of supplier capabilities and relationship level on production management: The higher capabilities of supplier cost, lead-time, quality and relationship level, the higher management effectiveness in cost down in production. When a supplier is of more capabilities in lead-time, quality, services and relationship level, there will be higher effectiveness in production rate. However, it should be necessary for each capability to base on the conception of total cost so as to carry out the principal of right price, right quantity, right time and right quality and achieve high effectiveness in management.
