The study tool is the “4th stage textbook music appreciation content analysis rubrics of the Arts and humanities learning areas”. It is expected to intensively understand the proportion, connotation and contents of the music appreciation in the 4th stage textbook of arts and humanities learning areas. The supplementary teaching materials collected by the researcher are integrated and used as reference and teaching material. According to the analysis result, conclusions are drawn as below: 1. The content proportion of music appreciation teaching materials: The percentage of music appreciation teaching materials is over 50%, which is the main part of the music appreciation textbook of Hanlin version of Arts and humanities learning areas. 2. The contents of music appreciation teaching materials: The contents of music appreciation teaching materials are mostly the analysis of music works, mainly focus on two parts of music elements and brief introduction to music. It can avoid the teaching of music appreciation becoming boring cognitive learning. In the meanwhile, it can avoid be superficial. 3. Music pieces for appreciation: The overall teaching materials of music appreciation are rich and diversified. They can help the students to be familiar with various and wide music culture and develop students’ correct appreciation attitude. Furthermore, it enables the students to accumulate aesthetic experience. Through the exploration of the proportion, connotation and contents of the music appreciation in the textbook of arts and humanities learning areas, the researcher found out that the contents of the 4th stage music textbooks of arts and humanities learning areas was changed from focus of music theory, music knowledge to appreciation and aesthetic education gradually. It is easy to see that music appreciation has gradually become the main trend in the music education in high school in our country.
