However, the domestic GDP of Taiwan has leveled off recently; the potential demand from the consumer has been decreasing to compare with emerging countries around Taiwan. In addition, Taiwan joined the WTO in 2004, the category of paper products were listed as the zero-tariff items. Therefore it offers varied options for domestic buyers in Taiwan. Furthermore, the paper manufacturing industries have also faced tremendous challenges from advance Internet infrastructures, as widespread of automation in B2B and B2C e-commerce and increase in demand of email application and lastly the decline in birth rate. The paper manufacturing industries not only maintain competitiveness in domestic markets but also strategically explore emerging markets to expand their market share. Therefore, the question is how paper manufacturing industries can develop competitive advantage when they face to fierce tough competition from domestic and overseas markets. This study is divided into two parts to analyze paper manufacturing markets. First, the paper reviews macroeconomic environment of the world using the diamond model, and analyzes industries’ competitiveness in paper manufacturing markets by Porter’s Five Forces Analysis. That analysis will be followed by the description of paper manufacturing industries’ development and its characteristics. Second, this study utilizes one of top three paper manufacturing companies in Taiwan as an analysis object. The paper use SWOT analysis and value chain to analyze both external environment and internal activities of case company. The study reveals corporate-level, business-level and functional-level strategies of this company. According to these strategies, the paper will present the case studying company’s competitive advantages. The expected results of this study intend to establish the suggestion of competitive strategies for paper manufacturing industries in Taiwan and ensure enlarging their competitive advantages.
