Therefore, the influence on nearby environment of the hazardous air pollutants from petrochemical industry areas are being concerned, and thus its control has been the key point of the environmental protection agency. With twice sampling (24 hours continuously each time), the research started from 5 p.m. on December 12th, 2012 to 5 p.m. on December 13th, 2012 and from 11 a.m. on February 20th, 2013 to 11 a.m. on February 21th, 2013. To explore the characteristics of VOCs from industrial areas, the samples were analyzed by the Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrophotometer (GC-MS) Moreover, pollutant concentration distribution was simulated by Sufer10 to figure out the influence on nearby areas by hazardous VOCs and BTEX from petrochemical industrial areas. According to the IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer), Group 1 and Group 2B are carcinogens. The monitoring result in the petrochemical industrial areas showed that species belonging to Group 1 are 1,3-butadiene, vinyl chloride and benzene and that species belonging to Group 2B are isoprene, acrylonitrile, styrene, ethyl benzene, isopropyl benzene, methylene chloride, 1,2-dichloroethane, carbon tetrachloride and α-methyl styrene. As a result, 11 kinds of carcinogenic VOCs are detected in this research. In December and February, the prevailing winds primarily are north-east, north-west and south-west wind. The main areas affected by the wind direction and wind speed are A2-Fu de Temple (1, 2-dichloroethane, 4.05 ppb) B3-XixiVillage (methylene chloride, 7.50 ppb), B5-Feng Yun Village (methylene chloride, 1.39 ppb) and B6 -Zhongshan Village (1, 2-dichloroethane, 1.81 ppb) . According to BTEX ratio analysis, T/B results showed that stoluene and benzene detected at sampling points Wu Fang road, Yan Zhou Elementary School and Wu Kuai Cuo mainly resulted from the traffic pollution. And X/E results showed that pollutants at Lin Yuan and Xin Yuan Township are relatively fresh, which has higher probability to transform int ozone . In the concentration diffusion demonstration, the twice sampling at Lin Yuan industrial areas showed that the sampling points 1 km north-west and 2 km south-west of Lin Yuan industrial areas are affected the most, and sampling point 3 km from Lin Yuan area and Xin Yuan area the least .
