| Summary: | 碩士 === 華梵大學 === 建築學系碩士班 === 101 === Pitou Cape, situated between Keelung and Shen’ao, is one of the northern facing settlements located in northeast Taiwan among the many harbors. Modern development has overshadowed the unique development of the settlement. The construction of the Coastal Highway cut through the sentiments within the settlement. However, the special ocean geography and historical development of society as well as a boot-shaped harbor has preserved the settlement’s abundance and unique spatial appeal. Although, falling beyond the main route of the farm colonization of Han Chinese in Northern Taiwan, they used the unique local terrain to avoid the northeastern seasonal winds. Moving north and south under the sunlight, holding onto their strong belief in Matsu, along with the development of village fishing culture through the usage of torch light net fishing; there is a development of appreciation for the ocean and ensures stabilization in their livelihood. Thus, this recognition gives the settlement a sense of belonging and shaped the local culture, which is based primarily in the fishing industry. Through previous works and field research, this research accumulates “regional” horizon to explore the settlement’s cultural landscape based on history and society. This research hopes to analyze the current Pitou Settlement’s travel method and establish an appealing travel route that incorporates the settlement’s lifestyle, culture and landscape. This research also hopes to serve as a suggestion for the settlement’s development in tourism industry and serve as a basis for the government’s future plans for the settlement as a whole.
