No much attention has been paid to abstract paintings.This study conducted a questionnaire survey, statistical quantitative analyses, interviews, and cooperated with some experts to review the works, for the purpose of exploring the feasibility of promoting teaching and creation of abstract paintings in third grade of elementary schools. According to the analyses of the questionnaire survey:children have high degree of awareness on the point, line, plane defines;have a high degree of recognition for point, line, plane in picture of life;can feel the paintings to convey "happy" imagery;and the willingness of creating abstract paintings is high. Children to "point, line, plane abstrac──happiness" as its theme creation, the analysis results of these works with happy images include: (1) the use of narrative and lenovo, or direct application of point, line and plane combinations to create; (2)creative encounter difficulties,there will be figurative, meaningless pattern;and (3) these works are special and with aesthetics due to rich imagination and creativity, and showing happiness imagery. After comparing the children’s paintings with the literature review, there are some things in common: (1) the children can using points, lines, planes, and principles of aesthetics; (2) mostly curves and round shapes are used; (3) using symbols to draw; (4) some images are presented in layers with shadings. However, techniques of distance and depth are less used; (5)their paintings are all planar paintings;and (6) the happy emotions can be presented in abstract forms.In the aspect of disqualified works:(1) most of the analyzed paintings contain backgrounds; (2) no divisions of images; and (3) the top three media used for coloring are: crayons, color pens, and water colors. In most of the paintings, more than one medium is used. It is quite feasible to perform the actual creation of abstract in third-grade art curriculums of elementary schools. Enable children to master the creation of abstract way, we can improve the creation of desire, the work can also have a better and more multiple performance .
