The core concept of this thesis focuses on regional religious temples, cultural and historical studies and religious arts in the northern Tachia River basin, including six mountain towns and four beach towns totaling more than 160 temples. This exploratory study used literature review, field observation, and personal interviews for the collection of data. This paper is divided into eleven chapters. The first chapter explains the motive and explores relevant literature. The second chapter discusses the origins and development of the Wenchang belief, to explore the origins and development of Wenchang, "Five Wenchang” and Wenchang related gods. Third chapter describes the Tachia River basin geography and history of development to expand. Fourth chapter discusses the Tachia River basin temples Tacha situation and Folk Belief. Chapters 5 and 6 explore the township District the Tachia River basin and its human development and architectural arts of Wenchang temple. Chapters 7 and 8 focus, respectively, on the two major Wenchang temples: the Tachia Wenchang and Dongshi Wenchang Temples, and discuss the development and construction of the temple arts, while these two temples are categorized as the third national historical sites. Dongshi Wenchang Temple was built after the 921 earthquake which combines the new and old arts form. Chapter 9 investigates the regional Wenchang temple and its architecture. Chapter 10 investigates the ceremonies of offer sacrifices. The final chapter concludes this study. In addition to the above two major Wenchang temples, several other regional temples are investigated for more detailed inquiry. The primary focus of this paper is on the understanding of the major Wenchang temple architecture and decorative arts in Tachia River basin, which is also one of the major finding of this study. This study used a large number of photos and data, showing various insights of Wenchang belief and its arts of architecture in the Tachia River basin which is like an encyclopedia.
