碩士 === 玄奘大學 === 宗教學系碩士在職專班 === 101 === Lantern Festival, commonly known as “Little New Year” is the most popular festival among a variety of major traditional cultural ones in Taiwan. Its extent of bustling is just secondary to the Lunar New Year. On this day, a series of celebration activities are held all around the country and the streets are decorated with beautiful lanterns. The traditional celebration activities at many temples, including those in Taiwan Lantern Festival, Pinxi Sky Lantern, the Taitung fried Han Dan, Tainan salt Firecrackers, Taipei Lantern Festival and Kaohsiung Lantern Festival, have made Lantern Festival become the most popular Taiwanese festival for international tourists. There exists in Chunan District an unique and century-old activity, Firecrackers Han Dan Ye, which the locals name “Zao-fo” . Although this activity had stopped for decades, it has revived recently, however, under the impetus of interest parties.Firecrackers Han Dan Ye has opened up a road to heritage and has become an important traditional folk activity in Chunan local area. Although the number of studies on firecrackers at Chunan and the faith on Han Dan Ye is not very large, the aspects it involves with are broad and wide, which is worth discussing thoroughly. This essay begins with the origin of people’s faith on Han Dan Ye in Chunan, as well as their thinking and social life behind the faith. The development history in Chunan District and the Fan-she Bao-an Temple is also included in order to understand the introduction of faith on Han Dan Ye. Besides, the origin and development of faith on Han Dan Ye among people at Chunan investigates how it was introduced at first and how it was developed in different times. In the final part, the essay studies the reason why the activity of Firecrackers Han Dan Ye has flourished in Chunan District.
