In this study, we investigated the whitening, moisture retention, antioxidatant, and anti-inflammatiory effects of polysaccharopeptide (PSP) produced from the submerged culture of Coriolus versicolor strain LH1. PSP could effectively inhibit the tyrosinase activity in vitro. We demonstrated that PSP reduced the formation of melanin and inhibited tyrosinase activity in mouse B16-F10 melanoma cells. On moisture experiment, the PSP could increase in moisture absorption and water retention significantly. We further measured hydration of the skin surface using Multi Probe Adapter System® MPA-5 and found PSP could increase hydration in vivo. We examined the antioxidant activity and the free radical scavenging ability of various concentrations of PSP. Our results showed that PSP could effectively increase the reducing power and chelate ferrous ion. PSP exhibits excellent scavenging activities in both DPPH and ABTS‧+ free radical scavenging assays. On security patch experiment, PSP didn’t induce skin redness and irritation. In addition, PSP could significantly reduce the erythema value in vivo. In conclusion, our research indicated that PSP from C. versicolor inhibited tyrosinase activity, attenuated melanin production, and increased the skin moisture. And PSP also exhibited potent free radical scavenging ability, antioxidant activity, and anti-inflammatory response. Kuang-Hway Yih 易光輝教授 學位論文 ; thesis 67 zh-TW
