Description
Summary:碩士 === 義守大學 === 管理學院管理碩士在職專班 === 101 === This study aims to explore the influences of taking measures of nursing skill-mixed model (NSM) in nurses’ perception towards patient care work, intention to stay, satisfaction regarding the services nurse aides provided, as well as in quality indicators of patient care and overtime work situation. Data collection includes a questionnaire survey and direct measures of quality indicators of patient care and overtime work situation within the research hospital. A total of 136 nurses from a hospital located in a remote area of southern Taiwan were selected using the purposive sampling method (76 nurses in the group of NSM and 60 nurses in the group of non-NSM) to participate in a questionnaire survey. The survey instruments consist of two parts, nurses’ satisfaction questionnaire of practicing measures of NSM and intention to stay scale. Descriptive statistics and independent sample t test were performed to analyze data. Findings: Nurses thought that their workload, psychological pressure from work and overtime work was reduced and professional image was enhanced after implementation of NSM. Nearly 55% of nurses were satisfied with patient care behavior nurse aides provided; especially their efforts of maintaining patient safety reach the highest (65%). Regarding quality indicators of patient care, infection density, respiratory tract infection, and urinary tract infection of patients inside the hospital did not change significantly. However, fall rates and decubitus incidence of patients were decreased significantly. The duration of overtime work of nurses decreases from 21 minutes to 16 minutes. Finally, the two groups were not significantly different in intention to stay. It is hoped that these descriptive results can be important references for hospital managers when deliberating relevant policies.
