Description
Summary:碩士 === 高雄醫學大學 === 護理學研究所 === 101 === The growth of aging and disabled population has resulted in an increase of demands for long-term care services. Assurance of resident safety is the major responsibility for a long-term care institution. The resident safety culture is considered as a foundation of assuring resident safety. The purpose of this study is to develop and test the validity and reliability of the resident safety culture scale. The study is a cross-sectional descriptive correlational study design. Structured questionnaires including the scale of personal, work, and institutional characteristics and the Chinese version of resident safety culture scale were used to collect data. Thirty long-term care institutions were random selected and 306 staffs were participated. It rendered a response rate of 100%. The data were analyzed by using SPSS 19.0 statistical software. Results showed the Chinese version of the resident safety culture scale composited six subscales based on factor analysis, which were named as the following: "Supervisor expectations and actions promoting resident safety", "Hand-off, communication and training ", "Teamwork", "Nonpunitive response to mistakes and staffing", "Organizational Learning and procedures", "Incidents and feedbacks". The model explained a total variance of 51.03%. The Cronbach’s α was .91 for the total scale and .77-.92 for the subscales. The Chinese version of the resident safety culture scale has acceptable reliability and factorial validity. It is recommended to be an assessment tool for resident safety culture in long-term care institutions. Assessing resident safety culture is important for promoting positive resident safety culture and assuring residents’ safety in long-term care institutions.
