碩士 === 銘傳大學 === 商品設計學系碩士班 === 101 === 　　The purpose of this research is to develop an innovative design of emergent SOS system for solitary elder in order to enhance the self-care ability, home security, and quality of life of elderly. Moreover, the research is designed for understand users'' needs, preferences, and usability evaluation. Implication of results can provide the improved design reference of emergency SOS products for solitary elder. 　　In this research, an innovative system was designed in the concept of "service design" and "user-centric" through literature review and analysis of existing products. This innovative system might improve the efficiency of SOS, reduce costs of maintenance and calling fee, and improve the current predicament, that the hearing-impaired and the disabled can’t use emergency SOS products. 　　The questionnaire and interview was used to investigate the needs and evaluate the usability of these three kinds of emergency SOS systems designed for solitary elder. Results show that subjects could identify with the innovative system designed. The usability evaluation score of the innovative system is significantly higher than the other two market products, showing that subjects have a higher satisfaction to the innovative system, they prefer easy-to-use forms of products, and exclude the products of complicated operation and numerous functions. Results have implications for emergency SOS systems design for solitary elder.
