Under the impact of globalization and the formation of global village, the internationalization of education is becoming a hot trend for students not only confine to learn in their home country, but also study abroad (SA) to be an eye-opening in context of foreign language learning , experience of overseas life and strengthen an international competitive ability for themselves. The scholarships for students to study abroad, sponsored by the Ministry of Education Taiwan is intended to subsidize excellent students on either exchange or joint degree program in overseas universities. However, few researchers paid attention to the issue about the consideration, experience and perspectives on study abroad that deserves to further investigation. The main purpose of this thesis is to apply Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to establish and evaluation model to analysis the determinants of the undergraduate students to study in the short-term study abroad, and priority among these determinants, taking the recipient students of the former mentioned scholarships for example. Results reveal that undergraduate students face a short-term SA decision with the rank of four dimensions: “Self-development Determinant”, “Actual Determinant” and “Critical person Determinant”, while “School Determinant” is least important dimension. Among the 20 criteria ranking for SA evaluation, the top three important is: “enhancing the foreign language fluency”, “enhancing the cross-cultural communication skills” and “expanding career opportunities and competitiveness” respectively.
