Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 國家政策與公共事務研究所 === 101 === The difference between urban and rural disparities in Taichung County has long been existed in many aspects, and especially become the focal point of research in terms of city mayors and council elections in year 2010. Thus, this study attempts to investigate what are the factors that affect voters’ voting behavior and test if there are differences between Taichung County and former Taichung City respondents in this election. Previous literature has shown that most related studies focus their level of analysis on the central government and this study instead, put central emphasis on the local election. Based upon sociological research approaches, social psychology research approach and rational choice model, this study tries to find out what are the factors that influence voting behavior with a series of empirical testing using a Logistic Regression Analysis. Using the sample of city mayors and council elections in year 2010, this study finds that the party identification, candidate evaluation in social psychology research approach, and retrospective study voting in rational choice approach directly affect voters’ behavior in the Taichung County and former Taichung City. In the council election, however, only party identification in social psychological research approach has shown an important and also statistically significant factor that affect respondents'' voting behavior.
