Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 國際政治研究所 === 101 === Peacekeeping Operations (PKO) is an important pioneering work under the United Nations (UN) collective security system, which has made an important contribution to maintain the world peace and security system after the Cold War. Being one of the five permanent members of the Security Council of United States, China’s policy toward PKO has transferred itself from gradual concept, partial participation to active participation. With the increasing intensity of opening to the outside world and participation in international affairs, China’s attitude towards PKO is getting more and more active and realistic. Moreover, the impact it brings plays an important part in the world. After the Cold War, the authority, scale, and scope of PKO has expanded rapidly. However, humanism has gradually become the main reason of PKO, whose involvement in the domestic conflicts brings about contradictions between PKO and the national sovereignty. These problems make China’s emphasis on the three principles of PKO inevitably challenged. In addition to the limitation of its development, China has to get close to favorable conditions and steer clear of unfavorable conditions. In the researcher’s opinion, selectively active participation in PKO is a realistic and beneficial choice which meets China’s long-term national interests. In this way, China maintains its national interests as well as reach its responsibility of being a great nation.
