Considering the budget, the cost, and the convenience of the construction and maintenance, most power companies think that the overhead transmission type is still the main medium for transmission systems. The safety of power transmission is highly dependent on the type and the location of the power transmission tower which is affected by the hydrology, geology, distance between towers, the form of the force etc. Once a tower on the line is damaged or unstable, a large-scale power failure will occur. Therefore, the type and the location of the power transmission tower strongly influences the safety and the reliability of power supply. As the towers are getting older, the environment is changed, the functions and amounts are getting more, we should modernize the managements and strengthen the whole inspection and the safety assessment of the power transmission towers. According to the literatures, the research discussed the differential settlement of tower foundation and assessment of its affected environmental factors . Through the investigation of the 260 high voltage electricity transmission towers and their tower foundations in Taiwan, we collected and collated the data, and then established an assessment and gauge model. Presently, the human resources are not enough in Taiwan Power Company (TPC). The result of the research can not only helps the inspectors decide the priority of the inspection but also provides valuable references for the designers to choose the location and the type of the power transmission towers. It’s helpful for building safety power towers and maintaining the stability of power transmission in order to reduce the operation maintenance cost of Taiwan Power Company (TPC).
