Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立體育大學 === 休閒產業經營學系碩士班 === 101 === The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of regulatory fit on sport performance. According to Regulatory Focus Theory, it was proposed that both individual and environment have different orientations, namely promotion focus and prevention focus. Furthermore, when the focuses are congruent between person and environment, it would have optimal effect on individual’s performance. However, researchers rare applied regulatory focus theory in sport which resulted in a obviously gap in the literature. In the present study, the author recruited 51 participants to perform a simple throwing task in order to examine Regulatory Focus Theory. First, participants completed questionnaire to assess individual’s regulatory focus and then manipulating regulatory focus. It has been assumed that the effect of individuals’ chronic orientation on throwing performance was moderated by experimental manipulation. Results indicated that the relationship between high relative regulatory focus and throwing performance was enhanced under promotion condition. On the other hand, the relationship between low relative regulatory focus and throwing performance was enhanced under prevention condition. Overall, the results of this study support the effect of regulatory focus fit on sport performance.
