Summary: | 碩士 === 國立體育大學 === 休閒產業經營學系碩士班 === 101 === The purpose of this study was to understand the Influence of long-term adventure education camp for adolescents’ benefits and self-concept. This study used qualitative research depth interviews and participant observation to 15 adolescents involved in the Symbiosis Camp of City People Foundation in 2011, for a period of 28 days of adventure education program. In addition to discussion records of all staff of the Symbiotic Camp at night, participant’s notes, combined with the researcher’s observation, participant’s journal, interviews with participants of the Symbiotic Camp to analyze the influence of long-term adventure education Symbiotic Camp to adolescents’ benefits and self-concept. In this study, the major findings are as follows:
First, according analyzing the results of this research, the seven benefits of the long-term adventure education Symbiotic Camp within interpersonal relationships are "helpfulness", "ability to express", "respect for others", "leadership", "teamwork", "being trusted" and "sense of accomplishment", and the seven other benefits of the long-term adventure education Symbiotic Camp within intrapersonal relationships are "confident", "ability to distinguish and choose", "courage to break", "self-awareness", " perseverance not to give up", "emotional control" and "finding the direction in life". Therefore, the long-term adventure education Symbiotic Camp do benefit adolescents.
Second, after analysis, the factors causing this 14 benefits, in addition to the six factors which McKenzie (2000) summarizing from the past adventure education literatures: "environment", "activity", "processing", "group", "facilitator" and "participant", this study also found that there are " Ongoing cardiopulmonary exercise-jogging" and "Leader Of the Day" two new factors.
Third, combined with interviews with participants, discussion records of all staff of the Symbiotic Camp, and participant’s journal, the six elements of self-concept ( the corpora1 self, the phenomenon self, the social self, the projective self, the psychological self, the ideal self) have a positive influence after most participants attending the 28 days’ Symbiosis Camp. Hence the long-term adventure education Symbiosis Camp does have a positive impact upon adolescent's self-concept.
