The purpose of this study was to examine the differences of public servants in terms of job involvement, job stress and job characteristics based on their demographic background, and analyze the correlations between job involvement, job stress and job characteristics. Questionnaire survey was applied to achieve the research goal, and three questionnaires concerned with job involvement, job stress and job characteristics are designed for detailed examination.
The respondents are from public servants in Yunlin County Government, and 219 effective samples are collected. Data analyses were based on questionnaire results and were conducted by descriptive statistics, independent t test, One-way ANOVA, Scheffé's method and Pearson product-moment correlation.
According to the results, the findings are as follows:
1. Public servants of different exercising habits, age and marital status show no prominent differences in terms of job involvement, job stress and job characteristics.
2. Gender, tenure, education and position level are significant to job involvement.
3. Of all the background variables, religion was the only significant factor to job pressure.
4. Sex and education variables show significant differences in public servant's job characteristic.
5. There's a significant positive correlation between job characteristics, job involvement and job stress.
In all, the study proposed the above suggestions for personnel department, supervisors, public servants and future study.
