Summary:碩士 === 國立彰化師範大學 === 輔導與諮商學系所 === 101 === The Study of the Relationships between Work Orientations and Role Performance of Junior High School Counselors Wen-Lin Chen Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate junior high school counselors’ role performance and work orientations, and to analyze the differences among gender, seniority, serving years of being administrators, educational background and school size. Furthermore, this study was aimed to explore the correlation among work orientations and role performance. This study adopted investigation method. The instruments were “Scale of Role performance Made by junior high school Counselors” and “Scale of Work Orientations Made by junior high school Counselors”. There were 349 school counselors from junior high school in Taiwan sampled randomly. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistic method, repeated measures ANOVA, two-way ANOVA, independent samples t-test, Pearsonss correlation analysis, and canonical correlation analysis. The finding of this study were as follows: 1.The level of junior high school counselors’ work orientations reaches 60%. 2.The level of junior high school counselors’ role performance reaches 50%. 3.Junior high school counselors show the highest level of role performance as direct service providers, while their level of role performance as educators is the lowest. 4.Junior high school counselors of different school size showed significantly different levels of work orientations. 5.Junior high school counselors of different school size showed significantly different levels of role performance. 6.There are positive correlation of work orientations and role performance among junior high school counselor 7.Junior high school counselors’ work orientation affects their role performance. The belief in non-direct service providing leads to non-case-focused service, and the belief in non-evaluation data utilization brings service supported by professional guidance. Implications of these results were discussed and suggestions for school counseling practice and future research were also given.
