Total of the study samples were 4,051 people, including 3,715 children of Taiwanese people, 336 children of new immigrants. By t test, ANOVA analysis methods, the research explored the differences between Taiwanese children and children of new immigrants on fourth grade in personal background factors, mathematics learning attitude, confidence, and mathematics achievements. Major findings of this research were described as follows: 1.Taiwan's fourth -graders in TIMSS 2007 mathematics achievements were at the senior international benchmark. And Taiwanese children were at the senior international benchmark, children of new immigrants were at the intermediate international benchmark. Mathematics achievement performances of Taiwanese childrens’ were better than children of new immigrants. 2.Taiwanese children and children of new immigrants had significant differences in the cognitive domain of ‘knowledge’, ‘apply’,‘reasoning’. In those three domains, Taiwanese children were better than children of new immigrants. 3. Taiwanese children use Chinese language more often, and have better family educational resources than the children of new immigrants. 4. The mathematics achievement performance of Taiwanese children and children of new immigrants depends on the frequency of using Chinese language, family educational resource, children's mathematics learning attitude, and size of the school. It showed that more family resources, more positive attitude and the high mathematics achievements would be. 5. The mathematics achievements of children of new immigrants do not have significant difference based on school's locations. 6. The mathematics achievements of Taiwanese children and children of new immigrants have significant relation to mathematics learning attitude and confidence. Key words: Children of new immigrants, mathematics achievements. mathematics learning attitude, mathematics learning interest. 蔡文煥 2013 學位論文 ; thesis 96 zh-TW
