Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 體育學系 === 101 === The purpose of the study is to investigate the influence and the effect of integrating morning jogging activities into junior high school students’ extracurricular exercise on health-related physical fitness.
The experimental group was composed of a class of 26 ninth grade students in Fong-Lin junior high school. The researcher was the class’ mentor. The controlled group included 26 ninth grade students from other classes formed by simple random sampling. During a ten-week morning jogging activities, the experimental group ran three times a week, while the controlled group ran once a week. Before, during and after the activities, the participants were asked to have the pretest, the middle test and the post-test of physical fitness tests. The data were analyzed by SPSS 19.0. Average and standard deviation scores were computed by descriptive statistics. The differences and the interaction of the pretest, the middle test and the post-test of physical fitness tests of the two groups were compared by independent sample t-tests and two-way mixed designed ANOVA. If there was a significant difference on the main effect, Tukey method was then applied to explore individual differences.
The findings of this study were summarized as follows.
1. There was no significant difference of morning jogging activities on
students’ BMI, but there were significant differences of morning
jogging activities on students’ other aspects of physical fitness.
2. There was no significant difference of morning jogging activities on different gender’s BMI and flexibility, but there are significant differences of morning jogging activities on students’ other aspects of physical fitness.
3. There was no significant difference of morning jogging activities on students’ BMI in terms of the pretest, the middle test and the
post-test, but there were significant differences and interaction of
morning jogging activities on students’ other aspects of physical
fitness.
Based on the study findings, it is suggested that morning jogging exercise on junior high school students not only corresponds to Ministry of Education’s policy but also cultivates students’ habit of regular exercise. As a result, schools might conduct suitable activities to improve students’ physical fitness.
