In current society, new immigrants have gradually become a large group of the population in Taiwan. Therefore, how to make new female immigrants successfully adapt to the culture and living environment in Taiwan, will be an issue that cannot be ignored. The rise of the popularity of mobile phones and mobile learning has an important influence on the development of education. The goal of this action research is to design and develop a CSL program integrated into the short message service (SMS) for female immigrants and probe into problems that may occur during teaching and their possible solutions. This study lasted nearly 3 months. 10 female immigrants and 2 collaborative teachers were invited to participate. Data collection was carried out through active learning exercises and SMS of students, teaching journals, and interviews. Some documents were also collected. The strategies applied in this study to analyze the data were encoding and defining. Finally, the triangulation analysis was used to ensure the validity of the data. The major findings were in the following: 1. The concept of second language teaching helps CSL teachers teach Chinese to female immigrants. 2. It will be helpful for new female immigrants to link the lexical form, pronunciation and meaning of a Chinese character when they use the Chinese character key-in method for SMS. 3. During the Chinese instruction to immigrants ,teachers need to do constant dialogues and self-reflection so as to develop diverse curriculum and result in learning transformation. 4. 碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 華語文教學研究所 === 101 === Abstract
Taiwan is a migratory society composed of diverse population.
The major findings were in the following:
4. When the combination of curriculum and life, textbooks makes sense.
According to the findings, major conclusions drawn from this study are stated as follows:
1.Through the teacher-student SMS "dialogue",teachers can recognize the needs and changes of the students. Chinese input exercises can be helpful for immigrants to learning Mandarin
2. Teachers should constantly use self-reflection, so curriculum and teaching will continue to transform. Finally, when the teaching materials are integrated into life, learning will be more meaningful.
