The result of the study suggests six linguistic characteristics as followings: 1. Written signs are verbalized to form a unique linguistic fashion that the use of both written and spoken language is combining in the diaries. 2. Homophones are widely used for the purpose of time saving and fast communication. 3. The phonetics symbols and simplified Chinese Characters are adopted extensively also for the purpose of and fast writing and time saving. 4. The use of words and symbols in turn creates new style in word building and formation, therefore emerges versatile creativity in the language. 5. By means of cultural exchange and mass communication, students write in many languages other than Chinese due to the impact of the multilanguage phenomenon in outside world. 6. To complement the lack of non-verbal communication, students use many “onomapoeia” sound words to enhance the sound affect, and the use of interjections, emotional marks, and mimetic words make the dialogue almost like the real life conversation. These linguistic characteristics also reveal four phenomenon of students’ subculture in this study as followings: 1. The context of the dialogs varies when students write to classmates with different personalities. Students tend to increase the use of auxiliary words to agreeable person whereas use more obscene or bad language to abrasive person. 2. The reason why the students use different language styles is for the peer-identity. That is, they adopt particular language style to show mutual confidence and friendship to distinguish “we group” from “their group”. 3. Students’ cyber shows gender differences among language using. Boys concern more on sexual issue whereas girls concern more on mutual love. Both use bad languages. Boys are just for fun, while girls usually relate to express their angers. 4. Cyber language often appears in students’ diaries. It reveals that students’ subculture is affected by the outer world, especially from the impact of popular use of internet and cell phones.
