| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 客家文化研究所 === 101 === Dr. Zen Gui-hoi, known as the "Southern Green Godfather", is not only a sensitive and rational literary author, but also a doctor who respects and loves life. Fond of writing poetry, Dr. Zen leads the readers through the beauties of the riverside and appreciates the life styles of the villages consisting of traditional compound houses. Dr. Zen uses poetry to “prescribe” something useful for the rootless society. On top of that, Dr. Zen uses his spirit as a doctor to fly the “southern green flag” at the critical moment which undergoes “a society transformation in southern Taiwan” and, therefore, triggers the localization of Taiwan culture.
With the qualitative researches’ strategies, such as fieldwork, literature analysis, in-depth interviews, and significant life experience (SLE), etc., the text of this study is divided into literature production, cultural care, including the two main shafts: social care and social movements. In the process of the social moments in southern Taiwan, this study also probes deeply into the way that Dr. Zen Gui-hoi prescribes for this deformed society, creates literature corner, launches the green revolution in the south, which ends up with the movements of environmental protection and cultural heritage conservation, etc. Therefore, Dr. Zen plays a role of “holy warrior to defend the green territory” who heals not only humans’ physiological suffering, but also severe and lingering illness, and is known as “a metropolitan medical engineer.”
By probing deeply into the way that Dr. Zen Gui-hoi prescribes for this deformed society in the process of social movements in southern Taiwan, the study shows the facts that Dr. Zen creates the literature corner, launches the green revolution which facilitates the environmental protection and cultural heritage conservation. Dr. Zen plays a role of “holy warrior to defend the green territory” who heals not only humans’ physiological suffering, but also severe and lingering illness, and is known as “a metropolitan medical engineer.”
By holding the stethoscope on one hand to prescribe the patients, Dr. Zen holds on the other hand the Chinese writing brush as big as a rafter to fly the south green flag. He is transformed into a Fighter for environmental protection while taking off the white coat. Besides, as he is so enthusiastic about literature, he takes the pulse of the life and society with the eye of a poet as the stethoscope to care about the human living environment. With help from every walk of life, the revolution is in progress and turns out to be “a green revolution in the south.”
