The main purposes of this study were to find out the present situation and difference of time management of the fifth and sixth graders and to compare the variation of time management and academic achievement under the variable of different background. And the researcher explored the time management of these students to see if they predict academic achievement. The research took elementary pupils who studied in public elementary schools of Ping Tumg Country in 2012 as subjects, used self-made “questionnaires of students’ time management” as research tool to take samples from 15 schools by stratified cluster sampling, then, and took samples from one class of senior grade in each school by random sampling, and there were 898 effective questionnaires returned. Finally, all the data received were analyzed by T-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation, multiple stepwise regression analysis etc., and the conclusions were as follows: 1. The time management of the higher graders are above average. The scores of “external factors”, “event factors” and “individual factors” are in sequence. 2. The academic achievement of fifth and sixth graders reached a score above 80 points. Among them, the score of Mandarin" was the highest, followed by "English", "science", "social studies", and "math." 3. Students who had better time management were female fifth and sixth graders, the youngest of the family, those who lived with their parents, parents with higher education and the students whose mothers gave strict discipline. 4. Students who had better academic achievement were female fifth and sixth graders, the older child of the family, those who lived with their parents, parents with higher education and the students whose parents taught in democratic attitudes. 5. Those fifth and sixth graders who had better time management got higher academic achievement. 6. The time management of fifth and sixth graders can be used as a reference to predict their academic achievement. Based on the conclusions of this research, some suggestions are made as a reference for the higher grdaers’ academic, teacher's teaching, and reference of parents, educational responsible institution, and future researchers.
