The first purpose was to understand the Wandan residents’ motivation and benefit recognition for attending the Wandan Red Bean Festival. The second was to investigate the demographic characteristics of the residents. The last was to examine the relationship between festival motivation and benefit recognition. In this study, “Wandan residents’ festival motivation and benefit recognition questionnaire” was adapted as a research tool questionnaire using Convenience sampling. 400 copies were filled out. Descriptive Analysis, t test, One-way ANOVA test and Pearson product-moment correlation were used to analyze the data. The results were summarized as follows: 1. The motivation dimension of “emotional identification with hometown” had the highest mean score among four motivation dimensions . The factor of “local economic benefits” had the highest mean score among four dimensions of perceived benefits. 2. The festival motivation was found to be significantly different according to variables such as gender, age, occupation, residence period, attendance in community organization and frequencies for attending festival. 3. The benefit recognition was found to be significantly different according to variables such as gender, marital status, residence period, attendance in community organization and frequencies for attending festival. 4. There were positive correlations between festival motivation and benefit recognition.
