When it comes to religion and beliefs, one should learn and personally practice “tao”--the teachings and do-ctrines of a religion, in order to truly understand “tao” and unleash the ene-rgy of life. The thinking and theories of philosophy can elevate the mind and e-xpand one's horizon, helping one pursue the true meaning of life. The function of art is conveying life's moving sensations to enrich and empower our lives. Often we are mired in troubles of secular life. it is hard to predict what will happen to us in this impermanent life. Only by strengthening the cornerst-one of mind and soul can we defend ourselves against exterior intrusions. Yet the establishing such a strong spiritual foundation means that one has to first go through the harsh challenges in life. The topic of this thesis is “the power of life”. I use the “tree of mind” as a symbol to express my ideas of perseverance and optimism. Integrat-ing religion, philosophy, growth of plants and eyes of an artist, I attempt to generate an inner strength that guides my life which I created with optimism. Literary analysis is used to integrate related data for the thesis. Graphic analysis and stylistic-formal analysis enable me to devise and apply “power-of-life graphic analysis” to uncover my own power of life presented in the art works. The artwork created for this research consist of installation art. The “shocks in life” series shows my perseverance after undergoing shocks. “Power of life” present the active optimism after the shock has diminished and changes taken place. keywords: "power of life", "tree of mind", installation art Chen, Yenju 陳燕如 2013 學位論文 ; thesis 118 zh-TW
