Stroke survivors always significantly decline in physical activity, functional status and quality of life. The increasing of daily physical activity and changing of sedentary life style are essential to promote the health condition and enhance physical mobility. Besides regular rehabilitation, this study designed a ‘Home-based Exercise program 333’ for chronic stroke patients to increase their physical activity in daily life. Furthermore, the study investigated the effects of ‘Home-based Exercise 333’ on physical activity, functional status, and quality of life in chronic stroke patients. Forty-one chronic stroke patients with hemiplegic were randomly assigned into experiment group and control group. Both groups accepted traditional rehabilitation twice a week. The experiment group received health education of home exercise in the first week. Before and after 12 weeks of the experience, the two groups accepted the assessment of physical activity, functional status, and quality of life. There were significant differences in sedentary time, agility, walking speed, walking endurance and quality of life before and after intervention in experiment group (p < .05). The comparison improvement of before and after intervention in two groups showed significant differences in physical activity, agility, lower extremities strength, walking speed and walking endurance in experiment group (p < .05). The 12 weeks ‘Home-based Exercise Program 333’ could significantly improve the performances of physical activity, functional status and quality of life in chronic stroke patients. The study suggests the employment of home-based exercise may encourage patients to increase their daily living activity autonomously. Peng, Hsuen-Ying 彭雪英 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 90 zh-TW
