This research took the questionnaire-survey approach titled “Educational expectations and school choice factors of student’s parents in public and private elementary school in Taichung City.” The subjects included in this research were student’s parents of six public and six private elementary schools in Taichung City. Send out 600 questionnaires, 549 questionnaires were returned, the response rate was 91.50%. 536 questionnaires were valid, the effective response rate of 97.63%. SPSS 12.0 version is adopted to calculate and analyze the data from the valid questionnaires. The statistical methods operated in the study included mean, standard deviations, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Spearman's rank correlation coefficient and Kendall coefficient of concordance. Based on the results of data analysis, the study came to the following conclusions: 1.The level of “Academic performance”, “future performance”, “morals behavior”, “interpersonal communication” and “total educational expectations” of student’s parents in public and private elementary school in Taichung City are from middle to high. 2.Except “Transactional Expectation”, the educational expectations level of student’s parents of private elementary school is higher than parents of public elementary school. 3.The variable of different background in the educational expectations of student’s parents in public and private elementary school in Taichung City shows difference in some variable. 4.About the school choice factors of student’s parents in public and private elementary school in Taichung City, parents applied the integrated choice consideration and informational source, shows difference in some orientation in the result. a.In the six level of synthetic consideration, shows that the highest approach level is “The Specialized Teacher” and the lowest approach level is “Former or Other’s Experience”. The approach of “Convenience of Living” and “Academic Performance” of public and private elementary school has been exchanged, and the others are the same. b.In the six option of information source of school choice, the highest factor is “Inquires from Friends and Relatives”, and the lowest factor is “Media Report”. The option of “Attends School’s Activities” and “Explanation Session of School” of public and private elementary school has been exchanged, and the others are the same. 5.The variable of different background in the school choice factors of student’s parents in public and private elementary school in Taichung City shows difference in some variable.
