Summary:碩士 === 國立臺中教育大學 === 教育學系課程與教學碩士班 === 101 === The purposes of this study are to investigate and realize the relations and effects among English learning attitude and English learning achievement of the students in Tainan’s junior high schools Furthermore, the study attempted to talk about the differences between English learning attitude and English learning achievement in terms of gender, SES, and ethnicity. The survey research was conducted with questionnaires. There are 594 subjects who study in 9th grade in junior high school in Tainan city. They were sampled with cluster random sampling strategy from junior high schools in Tainan city during . The data collected were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, EPearson Product-moment Correlation and Multiple Regression Analysis. The results are as follows: 1. The learning attitude toward English was scored as a middle-high level. 2. The girls are better than the boys in the whole English learning. 3. Students with higher family SES have more positive attitude than those with lower family SES. 4. The English learning attitude of Children of Aboriginals and new inhabitants are less positive than the others. 5. The English learning achievements of subject students are scored as middle-high level. 6. The girls’ English learning achievement are better than the boys. 7. Students with higher family SES did better in English learning achievements than those with lower family SES 8. Children of Aboriginals and new inhabitants did worse than the others students 9. There is a significant relation among the learning attitude toward English, and the English learning achievements. 10. English learning attitude can predict English learing achievement.
