碩士 === 國立臺灣師範大學 === 國文學系 === 101 === The theme of this thesis is Females Writing of San Mao─Focus on Her Works during Sahara-period . San Mao (1943-1991) is the pet name of Chen Ping . As a famous contemporary writer in Chinese –speaking world , she had written books that are immensely popular with readers . Chapter one illustrates the basic structure of this thesis , including the motive , the purpose , research mothods and literary studies on San Mao。 Chapter two -San Mao’s Experiences and Writing Process . This part of the thesis makes a thorough inquiry to her experiences and writing process. There are three periods of her creations . From the third chapter to the fifth chapter are Female characters of San Mao’s works . Chapter three includs three sections : the characters of European and American female fellows she met , the characters of females in Sahara , and the characters of San Mao. Chapter four is The Topics of Women Writing. Theoretical basis comes from Virginia Woolf’s A Room of One's Own . She believes that woman must have money and a room of her own if she wants to write fictions . Most important of all, her spirit must be independent . In addition to this , San Mao always had compassion for others . She helped vulnerable people as she could . Chapter five is according to Naomi Schor’s Reading in Detail : Aesthetics and the Feminine . The theory is used in San Mao’s works . It is used in description of the characters and landscapes . It is also used in the plots of the stories . Chapter six is Conclusion . It generalizes three major themes including female characters of San Mao’s works , the topics of women writing , and reading in detail . The last part of this chapter is San Mao’s influence on posterity.
